What is it: After a successful run at the Sandusky Farmers Market,
Henry’s Shoppes is coming to downtown Sandusky on a permanent basis.
Ryan Henry’s gift shop sells unique, hand-crafted items. Fair trade is important to Henry as is buying local to Sandusky.
“I am looking for local artisans to offer more local items,” Henry says.
While Henry also works at Pat Catan’s in Strongsville, his dream was to open a gift shop of his own. Working and living in Sandusky for the last 8 years, he realized this dream-come-true starting at the
Sandusky Farmers Market and other craft fairs over the past few years.
Henry's Shoppes previously sold wares at the Sandusky Farmers Market.Henry’s business started five years ago with just a 6-foot table at a local church bazaar, and he is proud of what he has accomplished to date.
While the most popular items he sells are crystals – “where it all started” – there will be a new wool décor line of products he is excited to introduce. This would be a new item that even his farmers market customers haven’t seen before. The hope is to debut this line in his new physical location.
Opening a brick-and-mortar store is in the works; however, there is no set date quite yet. Henry is pushing for early January to be fully open. Look for him at 133 E. Market St. in Sandusky – inside the
Marketplace at the Cooke.
Holiday shopping: He hopes that with the Christmas season right around the corner that he can host “pre-opening weekends” to preview some of the featured items. However, there will be a limited selection while setting up the store prior to the holidays. Customers will be happy to hear that Henry now offers gift cards that people can purchase as holiday gifts. This will make shopping for family and friends with a one-of-a-kind gift even easier this holiday season.
From skin care to earrings and stuffed animals for kids, Henry’s Shoppes has something for everyone to enjoy. While Henry is making moves to a store front, the one thing that won’t change from his tent at the farmers market is his exceptional and local offerings to the community.
