MAUI Hawaiian Shave Ice & Panini Grill brings island vibes to Huron Port Plaza

When Donna Vega-Consolo opened MAUI Hawaiian Shave Ice & Panini Grill on Dec. 1 she had a vision: to create a space where the community could gather, enjoy delicious food, and feel like they’d been transported to a tropical paradise—even in the heart of winter. With the help of manager Jillian Opfer, Vega-Consolo has brought that dream to life in the Huron Port Plaza.

MAUI Hawaiian Shave Ice & Panini Grill FacebookYogurt bowls and smoothies are popular menu items. The inspiration for MAUI Hawaiian Shave Ice & Panini Grill came from Vega-Consolo’s family, particularly her granddaughter Avery and her son Jeffrey.

“We love shave ice but could only get it in the summer months,” she says. “So we knew we had to open a place where you could walk in and sit and enjoy a shave ice. Because who says shave ice is only for summer?”

True to its name, Maui Hawaiian Shave Ice & Panini Grill offers a diverse menu designed to delight every palate. From their signature shave ice which is “just like snow,” to smoothies, power salads, acai bowls, and paninis like customer favorites the Rye Beach Bum and Buffalo Soldier, there’s something for everyone, Vega-Consolo says. Daily specials and customizations ensure that every visit feels special.

“We wanted a place where the whole family could come sit and eat while having fun and creating memories with our photo prop mural,” she says.

Since opening, Maui Hawaiian Shave Ice & Panini Grill has received an outpouring of support from the community.
