Firelands Adventure Tours returns with ghostly thrills and new Spirit Investigation

What is it: As the leaves begin to turn and the chill of autumn sets in, Firelands Adventure Tours’ Haunted Sandusky Tour gears up for its third season. The tour, guided by Sanduskian Donna Bretz, promises thrills and chills, as Bretz brings her deep knowledge of Sandusky’s spirit world and storytelling to every tour.

“Bretz tells her stories of shadowy streets and buildings, alleyways, and the mysterious waterfront where spirit-beings and otherworldly energies are said to roam,” according to information provided by Firelands Adventure Tours.

What’s new: This year, along with the Haunted Sandusky Tour, Firelands Adventure Tours will debut a one-of-a-kind Spirit Investigation at Firelands Winery on Oct. 13 and Oct. 24.

“The Spirit Investigation combines the rich history of one of Ohio's oldest wineries with the allure of spirit-based investigations," says Dick Ries, owner of Firelands Adventure Tours.

This is the first time Firelands Winery has hosted an investigation, according to the tour release, which allows participants to “explore uncovered mysteries within its aged walls.”

“Areas for the investigation typically closed to the public will provide a unique opportunity for experienced investigators as well as observers to connect with the winery's spectral past,” according to the release.

The night will end with a discussion of findings, followed by a toast to Edward Mantey, founder of the winery, that honors his legacy and the mysteries he left behind.

“This Spirit Investigation enriches and deepens the connection between the town’s heritage and Firelands Winery’s historical significance,” according to the release. “Whether you're a seasoned investigator or a curious newcomer, this tour promises an unforgettable journey into the heart of Sandusky's paranormal activity.”
